Tērvete Nature Park is one of the best and most suitable places for families with kids and those who are still able to view the world through kids’ eyes, believing in fairy tales and seeing wonders. This place also tells stories about mightiness of the ancient Zemgallian tribes through 3 longstanding hill forts. The most popular place in the park is Fairy Tale field and Dwarf Forest. Please reserve no less than 3 hours for walking through the unique pine forest where most trees have been standing for no less than 300 years. In the park one will also encounter characters from fairy tales and plays by Latvian writer Anna Brigadere – Sprīdītis (Tom Thumb) un Lutausis, Forest King and his court, little girl Annele with friends and members of the friendly Dwarf Family. From May 1 until October 1 the visitors will also meet the friendly Pine Forest Witch “in person” who resides here for the period, groups of school children will be guided by Mother Forest and the recently renewed Dwarf Forest is inhabited by Dwarf Lady in the summer period. Or have you always dreamed about celebrating Easter or Christmas in the forest? The dwarfs and the Pine Forest Witch have also prepared a special programme for newlyweds and wedding guests. In the playground there are also swings and shelters, tables and benches, where visitors can have their refreshments they brought with. Those willing to rest from everyday haste can have a chill-out walk in the Old Pine part of the park. The park is also equipped with a Fairy Tale Train, the only car-train of this kind currently in Latvia. Tērvete Naure Park every year organizes special events for Easter, there is also a torchlight procession in Walpurgis Night on April 30, and the annual tourism season is opened with a celebration with open-air singing, dancing and theatre shows in the beginning of May. Groups of visitors that apply previously will be guided into (and also out) of the magic Forest Kingdom of fairy tales and legends.
